From classic delicatessens to colourful Broadway shows, there’s so much more to the Big Apple than its famous glittering skyline

Whatever your interest, you’ll find it in New York: kayaking on the river, helicopter rides over the Hudson, speakeasy bars, music concerts, parkland walks, food markets, jazz…the list goes on. With countless options at your fingertips, you’re bound to discover something fresh, new and exciting on every trip to the big city.
When to go:
New York is best enjoyed during spring and autumn. It gets hot and humid in the summer, while the mercury dips below zero during winter.
How to get around:
It’s easy to get around using the subway, which runs 24 hours; it costs around US$30 for an unlimited weekly pass. On street level, yellow cabs (green in the outer boroughs!) and Ubers abound; alternatively, travel by shared Citi Bike or foot and soak up the myriad sights and sounds. Manhattan’s grid system makes it a breeze to navigate.
