City Guide
Munich
Widely dubbed “Italy’s northernmost city”, Munich is characterised by an unhurried Mediterranean vibe. With its wide boulevards, street-side eateries and elegant boutiques, the historic city encourages you to slow down and enjoy the finer things in life.
When to go:
Munich is beautiful all year round. The Alps are delightful in spring; summers are best spent lounging on the banks of the river Isar; autumn sees the popular Oktoberfest get underway; and the Christmas markets bring charms aplenty as the cold closes in.
How to get around:
Munich has a busy but efficient public transportation system – trams, buses and the underground and suburban trains run until late at night. Hire bikes for trips to and around the parks, or hop on a train to the Alps.
