Reconceived as an all-digital platform, the new SilverKris serves as the inspiration hub for travellers all around the Singapore Airlines network.
We leverage an on-the-ground network of writers, photographers and videographers to produce on-the-pulse features, thought-leading interviews, insider-curated city guides and beautiful videos – reminding readers that the world is still out there, waiting to be explored with Singapore Airlines. And with booking widgets on every page, SilverKris aims to close the distance not just between places, but between dreaming and doing.
Singapore Airlines’ customers travel for many reasons. So in addition to extensive coverage on hotels, restaurants and attractions, SilverKris also focuses on a sophisticated range of topics, from architecture and urban planning to technological advancements that have the power to change the world. The portal also serves as a definitive source for Singapore Airlines initiatives, news and other updates.
SilverKris is named after the kris, a Malay weapon used in the 14th century. Legend has it that the kris possessed many qualities, the greatest of which was its ability to anticipate danger and protect its owner. For these reasons, the kris was treated with the utmost respect and often passed down as a family heirloom. Today, its function is purely ceremonial. Singapore Airlines chose a kris made of silver as the symbol of their service, acknowledging both the quality and reputation of Malay silverware, and the airlines’ roots in Malayan Airways, which began in 1947.
