Produced by SilverKris for The Peranakan Museum
Located within a stunning heritage building on Armenian Street, the recently revamped Peranakan Museum is an intimate deep-dive into Southeast Asia’s Peranakan communities. The reimagined space focuses on the diversity within the term Peranakan, exploring the unique facets of Arab, Chinese, Eurasian, Jawi and Indian Peranakans. The three floors, nine galleries and over 800 objects take visitors through the themes of Origins – with photographs, videos and interviews – Home (with furniture, table ware and other décor) and Style, which is a tribute to Peranakan craft, with a collection of needlework, sarong kebaya, footwear and other accessories. Check out the specially commissioned installations by Singaporean artists Sam Lo and Lavender Chang, as well as the retail space on the first floor.
