Alila Hotels & Resorts has adapted the ethos of its destination resorts in places like Bali, Big Sur and Kuala Lumpur’s city setting – right above the bustling, multicultural neighbourhood of Brickfields, which is also home to Little India. Contrasting with the opaque, wood-clad exterior, Alila Bangsar’s interiors are flooded with natural light, with glass walls offering 360-degree panoramas of the city. Nature meets Art Deco here, with wood and stone accented by brass fittings that complement the tropical landscaping – a pared-back luxury that extends to the rooms as well. Particularly notable is the “living room” with a self-service pantry on every floor to make guests feel more at home. There’s also a great nose-to-tail French restaurant called Entier in the building.
