Tian Jing, which means “air well” in Mandarin, is located in a pre-war shophouse on a vibrant street lined with restaurants and cafés in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown. This recently opened boutique hotel offers one single bedroom and 14 twin and double bedrooms. As its name suggests, the hotel has been designed to maximise natural light and ventilation indoors: aside from the central air well, each room also has its own little air well via an open shower, strategically veiled by planted trees. The vibe hints at a luxe Chinese tea house, furnished in a polished mix of warm wood and white marble, balanced with modern accents like brass fittings and exposed bricks. There’s also the in-house Lim Kee Café downstairs that serves flat whites and piccolos.
