City Guide
Phnom Penh
The capital of Cambodia, this French colonial city is home to beautiful historic attractions that make for pleasant walks. It was once called the “Paris of the East”, an apt description for a city that has one of the most stunning waterfronts in Asia. Phnom Penh is a great place for markets and bazaars. Russian Market, in particular, offers a colourful range of bags, shawls and other items made from exquisite Cambodian silks and fabrics.
When to go:
Temperatures are high throughout the year, with April being the warmest and September, the wettest. The weather is slightly cooler and drier between November and April.
How to get around:
The most convenient way to get around the city is by bicycle, tuk tuk or taxi. Ride-hailing apps have also become popular in the city. While Uber has a presence, the local apps like PassApp Taxis or Exnet Taxi are probably more reliable.
