From a hotel in the Dominican Republic featuring fabrics designed by Oscar de la Renta, to Alain Ducasse’s Chanel-designed Tokyo restaurant, here are the must-visit spots for those who like to see the world in style.
1. Bar Luce, Milan, Italy
Bar Luce is a prettily wallpapered, retro-style cafe in Milan designed by cult favourite film director Wes Anderson. Located in the Fondazione Prada arts centre in Largo Isarco, this trendy hotspot is an Instagrammer’s dream. Anderson, the director of The Grand Budapest Hotel, has said that he thinks it would make both a good movie set and also a great place to write a film.
2. Tortuga Bay Puntacana Resort & Club, Dominican Republic
The late fashion designer Oscar de la Renta joined forces with this breezy resort to redesign their suites and the property’s restaurant, Bamboo. The iconic designer used his patterned fabrics and plenty of natural materials in the brightly coloured rooms, making the most of the warm breezes of the Dominican Republic.
3. Hotel Le Bellechasse, Paris, France
Paris and fashion have always gone hand in hand. French fashion designer Christian Lacroix recognised that while fashion might not sleep, you still have to – and so his fantasy-like hotel within walking distance of the Louvre is as intimate as it is beautiful. Think plush draperies and artwork that evoke dream sequences.
4. Armani Hotel Dubai, Dubai, UAE
With the attention to detail you expect from Armani, their sleek, monochromatic hotel in Dubai is just as smart and sophisticated. The Armani spa has an incredible array of treatments and the restaurants offer an international choice of cuisines spanning from Indian to Mediterranean.
5. Bulgari Resort, Bali, Indonesia
The Bulgari Resort in Uluwatu, Bali is just like their fashion label: luxurious, decadent and a feast for the senses. The pièce de résistance, the Bulgari Villa, has its own private cinema, pool and spa treatment room. Il Bar, on a terrace overlooking the cliff, has been modelled on their hotel bar in Milan and offers prime sunset viewing.
6. Beige, Tokyo, Japan
Beige restaurant in Tokyo is the meeting between a top fashion house and one of the world’s greatest chefs. Chanel and Alain Ducasse came together to design a simple and elegant French restaurant. Featuring the timeless, pared-back Chanel aesthetic and the renowned culinary skills of Ducasse, Beige is one of a kind.
7. Vanita, Palazzo Versace, Gold Coast, Australia
Situated within the Palazzo Versace hotel on the Gold Coast in Australia, the hotel’s restaurant, Vanita, is considered one of the best in the area. The fine dining is accompanied by Versace’s signature opulent style, right down to the plates.
8. Schlosshotel, Berlin, Germany
Each room and suite in this charming manor has been personally designed by Karl Lagerfeld and his sense of individuality can be seen everywhere. The highlight has to be the Karl Lagerfeld Suite, which he has furnished with his favourite items.
