A Christmas feast is incomplete without the requisite roast and stuffing, gravy, log cakes, seafood platters and more. But putting together a feast for the ages that will make your friends and family proud can be tough – and is probably not worth slaving over the kitchen stove for. We’ve rounded up some of this season’s best Yuletide packages that are available for delivery or takeaway. Just order in advance, pour yourself a glass of wine, put on your Christmas playlist and indulge in an Instagrammable, restaurant-worthy meal in the comfort of your home.
For an Indonesian feast: Kintamani
The veteran halal-certified restaurant at Furama RiverFront is known for its authentic and delicious Balinese food. This Christmas, it’s offering hearty festive bundles that are value-for-money, thanks to the extensive spreads at affordable prices. Both sets are priced at S$58 for two persons and S$98 for four, with a selection of tasty dishes accompanied by either Nasi Kuning (fragrant yellow rice) or seafood rice; Durian Pengat paired with Bubur Hitam (black sticky rice pudding) or glutinous rice; and sliced Gula Melaka Log Cake. Meat lovers should not miss the Buntut Goreng – a fall-off-the-bone oxtail that’s accompanied by a piquant sambal; or the creative Turkey Rendang that’s flavourful and rich. Seafood lovers may prefer the Baked Salmon with Sambal or Buttered Prawns for a light but no less delicious meal. As a bonus, you will receive complimentary bottles of Tiger Crystal beer when you purchase these sets to properly toast the end of a long year. Delivery is free for orders above S$60.
For a Nordic experience: ÁTIPICO
A smorgasbord buffet of Swede Julbord (which literally means Christmas table) favourites awaits those who order this six-course take-home kit for two created by Chef Matteo Pertoldi of private catering company ÁTIPICO. From cold starters of herring and gravlax salmon to Swedish Christmas ham, Swedish meatballs, a creamy potato and anchovy gratin and a dessert of rice pudding, the extensive spread will have you celebrating as the Swedes do without having to make the journey up north. The festive menu (S$95++) is available for delivery only on 10, 11, 17, 18, 22 and 23 December between 2pm and 6pm. Check out their website for more information.
For a luxe European meal: Tablescape
Created by executive chef Armando Aristarc to inspire a warm feeling of holiday cheer, this festive takeaway set will allow you to share the merry spirit with your loved ones. Start off with starters of assorted cold cuts; creamy burrata; a rich beef ragout tagliatelle; and buttery foie gras on brioche that help whet the appetite. Move onto mains that include a charcoal-roasted chicken that’s marinated for a day in rosemary, thyme and wholegrain mustard; and a tender braised lamb shank with grilled polenta. End on a sweet note with a carefully crafted panettone that’s made from a heritage recipe, specially imported from Italy and stuffed with raisins, lemon zest and candied orange. Prices range from S$128+ per set (for two to three persons) to S$588+ per set (for eight to 10 persons).
For a Thai-style Christmas: Blue Jasmine
True to its Thai origin, the Christmas offerings here come with an Asian twist. The traditional roast turkey is marinated in a home-made Esarn-style sauce crafted with a blend of galangal, lemongrass, coriander, turmeric and fish sauce, then twice-roasted for a juicy finish. It’s paired with buttered vegetables and fresh cherry tomatoes and served with a house-made smoked chilli sauce spiked with ground herbs. If you prefer red meat, the roast beef is a ribeye slab that’s marinated with fragrant spices such as garlic, thyme and coriander before it is roasted to perfection. It is accompanied with a smoky pepper sauce. You can turn either of these mains into a set (S$150 nett for the turkey or S$200 nett for the beef) and have it with a tasty Thai-style crab meat pineapple fried rice and traditional Thai mango sticky rice.
For locally inspired fare: Goodwood Park Hotel
For something closer to home, Goodwood Park Hotel’s festive takeaway treats include some Asian-influenced delights, such as a Har Cheong (shrimp paste) Turkey that’s marinated in prawn paste for two days before it is fried and served with vegetable rice and a house-made spicy Thai-style dip and scallion sour cream. Don’t miss the crispy “Char Siew” Turkey with pine nuts kataifi – an addictive snack inspired by the beloved dim sum dish of barbecued pork pastry, but instead of pork, juicy turkey breast is marinated in char siew sauce before it is encased in a kataifi shell and fried.
For a contemporary European meal: The Garage
This Singapore Botanic Gardens restaurant is bringing a slice of its exquisite dining experience to your home this Christmas with a special delivery set for two (S$98+). Appetisers – including Palermo Pepper served with burrata, anchovies and ginger flower; Sucrine Lettuce, served with miso cream and almond; and Roasted Brussels Sprouts – go wonderfully with “Chicken Rice” Couscous and mains of Turkey Bacon Roulade stuffed with crumbs of bacon, cranberry, bread and chestnuts; a tender Wagyu Rump Cap; and a succulent Kurobuta Pork Belly that’s been brined for 48 hours, sous-vide for 24 hours and grilled. A luscious Chocolate Merlot Cake of dark chocolate sponge covered in glaze rounds up the satisfying meal. If you order a set for four, you will get an additional fluffy Panettone that’s bursting with dried fruit and served with a house-made miso caramel.
For a feast your Italian grandma would approve of: Basilico
From magnificent roasts to sumptuous mains such as traditional handmade pasta and exquisite desserts, Italian restaurant Basilico is offering three party platters for delivery and takeaway. Choose from the Festivita Italiane, Buon Natale and Santo Stefano sets, that serve anywhere from four to 10 persons. Depending on which menu you’re in the mood for, you’ll be treated with sumptuous Italian dishes such as Sicilian-style Roasted Salmon Fillet with Roasted Vegetables; Wood Oven Roasted Turkey Breast with Foie Gras and Wild Mushrooms; assorted cold cuts; Grass-Fed Angus Beef Tenderloin with Rosemary Roasted Potatoes; Asparagus Tortelloni with Parmesan Cheese and Truffle Fondue; and Yellow Fin Tuna Tagliata with Saffron Marinated Chickpeas. Dessert comes in the form of a delightful log cake, with flavours such as the bittersweet Italian Chestnut and Whiskey Cheesecake with Caramelised Pear Compote; and the tart Imperial Earl Grey with Sea Salt Raspberry. Note that the party platters do require an advance order of 72 hours.
For gourmet light bites: Cicheti
If you prefer your party guests to be grazing throughout the day, consider the selection of festive boxes from Italian restaurant Cicheti. Sure, these are originally meant for gifting; but each bundle has a slew of freshly homemade gourmet foods that are ideal for hosting a party too. Our vote goes to The Cicheti Indulgence Gift Box (S$188), the ultimate box with a loaf of sea salt rosemary focaccia, a beef pie stuffed with beef cheek ragu, a 1.2kg honey glazed ham with apple sauce, cotechino (Italian pork sausage), chocolate chip cookies, and homemade Casarecce (short twists of pasta; you’d have to cook this yourself) which you can pair with an almond pesto sauce. The box also comes with either a homemade amaro or limoncello and a bottle of wine.
