1. Mmerci Encore
Aromatherapy brand Mmerci Encore is a Singapore perfume brand known for its soothing essential oil blends, which are deftly packaged into potent, 10ml perfume roll-ons. These perfumes, crafted by hand using only the finest botanical oils, are designed not only to smell good but to ease the mind and spirit. The products feature no alcohol, synthetic preservatives or colour, and can be rolled over pulse points for instant relaxation.
2. Oo La Lab
This “fragrance design and mixology service” regularly holds workshops for customers to mix and create their own unique scents, candles and essential-oil mixes. Ingredients are stored in small batches and hand-poured to maintain efficacy. Oo La Lab also sells gift sets and scents crafted in collaboration with other brands and artists, which can be purchased online.
3. Freda’D
This Singapore perfume brand crafts its phthalate- and cruelty-free perfumes by hand in small batches, using organic ingredients where possible. Inspired by the idea that scents evoke memories, Faridah Yusuf, who grew up in her father’s perfume store, and her husband Hairul Azhar, started Freda’D in 2014.
4. Scent by Six
Having spent four years at French fragrance house Givaudan, Scene by Six founder Jason Lee decided to start his own proudly Singaporean fragrance brand after creating scents for his then-wife-to-be and their wedding guests. The brand has now launched three of the six scents planned for its collection. The fragrances come in sleek, minimalist black bottles, and are also available in versions for air purifiers and reed diffusers.
5. Code Deco
With over 21 years of experience, founder Gauri Garodia creates sophisticated scents designed to reflect their wearers’ personalities and moods. Her brand uses luxury ingredients sourced from all over the world, and also sells popular Discovery Boxes that offer a variety of scents in smaller 11ml bottles for customers to experiment with.
6. Sifr Aromatics
A niche perfumery run by Johari Kazura, whose grandfather started producing perfumes in Singapore in the 1930s, Sifr Aromatics is located along Arab Street. The products featured in the store’s warm, cosy interior range from balms to soy-based candles and small-batch perfumes. The brand also runs perfume-making sessions as well as custom perfume consultations.
7. Jamal Kazura Aromatics
This Singapore perfume brand is something of an institution and has sold perfumes in the historic Malay and Arab enclave of Kampong Glam since 1933. It’s named after its second-generation owner, Jamal, who is the father of Sifr Aromatics’ Johari. It stocks a number of delightful attars, or Arabic perfumes, as well as scented soaps, shower creams and massage oils.
