A neighbourhood stalwart, Afghan Kitchen is basic in terms of décor – stools around shared tables and little by way of decoration – but you’re really here for the food. The affordable menu comprises only a handful of dishes, but these are wholesome and comforting, and best enjoyed as a group. Highlights include slow-cooked lamb stews and recipes based around yoghurt, aubergine, squash and lentils. Cards payments aren’t accepted so bring cash.
