Australian hotels are no longer just a place to rest your head; they’ve become aesthetic experiences in their own right. Case in point: at QT Melbourne, staff uniforms are tailored by costume designer Janet Hine and each room boasts a custom-made bed. There’s an excellent modern European restaurant on the second floor; an open-air rooftop bar; and even a Japanese knife shop on the premises. Though the QT is smack-bang in the middle of the city, you could probably get away with not leaving the premises.
