Advance food ordering, noise-cancelling headphones and the biggest HD screen in its class. These are just some of the perks passengers can expect when Singapore Airlines’ new Premium Economy Class launches in August.
Singapore Airlines today unveiled its new Premium Economy Class seats (above) and inflight service, following a two-year development programme and an investment of close to US$80 million.
The first Premium Economy Class flight departs from Singapore on August 9, bound for Sydney. With other destinations to follow, such as Beijing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, London, Mumbai, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Zurich. Premium Economy will be progressively introduced on 19 Airbus A380s, 19 Boeing 777-300ERs and the first 20 Airbus A350s.
Here’s what you can expect…
The seats
Each seat is finished in leather, and has a width of either 18.5 or 19.5 inches, depending on the aircraft, with an 8-inch recline and a seat pitch of 38 inches.
The seats also include more stowage space, an in-seat power supply, two USB ports, along with noise-cancelling headphones and a 13.3-inch full HD monitor; the largest in its class.

In addition to three main courses on board, customers can select their meals before they travel using the Premium Economy Book the Cook service.
Choices include seafood thermidor, roasted chicken in garlic cream sauce, rosemary beef brisket, roasted chicken rice, pork congee with century egg, spiced chicken nasi biryani, nasi lemak with fried chicken, and pancakes with maple syrup and scrambled eggs.
Ernest Rapeneau Brut Prestige champagne will also be available throughout the flight on all routes offering Premium Economy, along with a selection of curated wines.
Amenity kits
Exclusive limited edition amenity kits will consist of a toothbrush, toothpaste and a pair of anti-slip socks. The first kits will feature SG50 motifs to commemorate Singapore’s 50th birthday. Designed as a collectible item, pouches can also be clipped together.
