Singapore Airlines’ KrisWorld inflight entertainment (IFE) system offers up to 295 movies, over 475 TV programmes and more than 450 CD albums each month. That’s an extensive list. And for many of us, the most niggling part about using the IFE on planes is actually choosing a movie/TV show/song. I myself have committed to a two-hour long movie that didn’t particularly excite me, only to discover one that I had been longing to catch just as the plane was about to land. Talk about an anti-climax.
If you, like us, want to make that XX-hour flight count, with only the type of entertainment you thoroughly enjoy, Singapore Airlines’ new companion app (developed by MTT in conjunction with Panasonic Avionics) for iOS and Android tablets lets you review the IFE video and audio content that will be available on your flight and create pre-selected favourites lists.
Once onboard the plane, connect the device to KrisWorld using the aircraft’s in-flight WiFi network. Your movies will then be launched on the seat monitor, directly from your list of favourites. You can also use your device as a remote control. You can even access real-time information on your flight path without interrupting your movie viewing.
The app will be available on iOS and Android mobile phones in the second quarter of 2016.
