In its drive to be the world’s leading digital airline, Singapore Airlines (SIA) has launched KrisLab – a digital innovation lab that will allow the SIA Group to fully embrace digitalisation and technology in its business operations.
KrisLab serves as a collaborative workspace for SIA Group staff to develop new ideas and co-innovate with external partners, startups and established incubators and accelerators. Technology such as blockchain, mixed reality devices, artificial intelligence and data analytics, among others, are used and explored by staff as they develop digital initiatives.
One of the innovations being explored at KrisLab involves using virtual reality technology to allow designers to step on board and explore or change future cabin design concepts quickly. This is just one of the many initiatives that will help enhance operations across the board.
Aside from helping SIA Group employees develop their ideas, KrisLab works with institutions such as A*STAR and NUS on research in deep-tech areas. This will give SIA a competitive edge in fields including revenue management, smart seats, virtual training and predictive maintenance for aircraft
