Have a few million dollars to spare? Come 2022, you can blow it all on a cosmic stay at the very first luxury hotel in space.
Houston-based company Orion Span recently announced plans to launch Aurora Station in late 2021 and accept guests the year after. It’ll cost a whopping US$9.5 million for a 12-day stay, which works out to just under US$792,000 per night, and each excursion can accommodate six guests accompanied by two crew members. The space station will orbit Earth at an altitude of 322km, completing one orbit every 90 minutes. The waitlist for this uber-exclusive hotel is now open; you can register your interest here.
If space tourism is on your radar, you’ll be pleased to know that Las Vegas-based space technology outfit Bigelow Aerospace also has plans to launch a space hotel of its own by 2021.
