Founded in 1964 by late Sri Lankan painter and textile artist Barbara Sansoni, Barefoot is one of Colombo’s must-visit experiences. Locals and visitors alike come to enjoy a courtyard meal under the leafy canopy twittering with birdsong, before exploring the art exhibitions in the gallery and thumbing local and international titles at the well-curated bookstore. The highlight, though, is the textile and homeware section upstairs, a treasure trove of colourful bedspreads, table linens, cushion covers, as well as natural soaps, local pickles and other products. Perfect for picking up gifts and souvenirs of your trip.
