Threads of Life is a fair trade shop and gallery that sells ethically made textiles from Bali and all across Indonesia. Unlike many of the mass-produced textiles available at the local markets, these high-quality pieces are handmade from local materials and natural dyes. Plus, proceeds are used to help artisans form cooperatives and train the younger generation in the craft of weaving.
The studio also offers workshops where visitors can explore traditional techniques like batik, shibori (Japanese manual tie-dye) and tannin painting with mud dyeing. Workshops range from half-day classes to 5-day-long retreats.
