Steeped in history, Nuo Hotel is where Mao Zedong celebrated the inauguration of the People’s Republic of China. It is also where Stuart Franklin, a journalist, captured the iconic photograph of Tiananmen Square’s Tank Man in 1989, when it was still known as the Beijing Hotel. Built in 1917, it has been finely restored with all the mod-cons of a five-star hotel. Be sure to ask for a room with views of the Forbidden City.
