Pandan Street Bakery
Food industrialisation and cultural amnesia mean some of Singapore’s heritage snacks are either difficult to find or not as delicious as you remember them. Luckily, the iconic kue bangkit are not among them, thanks to Pandan Street Bakery. Run by Christy Tan, her husband Raymond and her mum Madam Lee, this multi-generational outfit preserves an important legacy with its decades-old recipe. Pandan Street Bakery is among the last of its kind to produce kue bangkit entirely by hand and without preservatives, using old wooden moulds no longer in production.
