A visit to Manchester isn’t complete without trying one of the most ambitious restaurants in the UK today. Head to Ancoats for a multi-course gastronomic experience at the city’s first Michelin-starred restaurant since 1977, courtesy of chef and co-owner Simon Martin who trained at the world-renowned Noma restaurant in Copenhagen. Ingredients come from across the British isles and are prepared using a combination of traditional techniques and unorthodox ideas. Previous courses have included reindeer moss, biodynamic radish and kelp fudge. Turn up with an open mind and an advance booking – tables here are booked out months in advance.
