The state of Nevada has long been one of the quickest places in the world to obtain a marriage license, and is arguably the most fun. Here’s how to tie the knot in style.
1. Maverick Helicopter Weddings
Adventure seekers need look no further – Maverick offers helicopter weddings. Packages start from US$1,099 and will see you and your beloved soar over famous sights in the city before landing at a romantic spot for the exchange of vows and a drinks reception. Couples can opt for a Sunset Brilliance package which flies over the Hoover Dam towards the Grand Canyon, landing on a private bluff overlooking the Valley of Fire (below) for the ceremony, or the Las Vegas Neon Lights Wedding package where the ceremony takes place in the sky as you manoeuvre over the neon lights of the strip below.
2. Mansion 54
Mansion 54 (previously known as Hartland Mansion) is the largest private residence ever built in the city and an incredible venue for a wedding. The mansion has been used by some of the world’s most famous people and in some of the most iconic moments in showbiz history. Guests who have stayed include Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. The movie Casino, starring Robert De Niro was shot in the enormous living room. This opulent home could be yours to marry in, and of course, stay in afterwards. They offer every service you may need from tuxedo and wedding gown rental to catering.
3. Viva Las Vegas Chapel
Viva Las Vegas Chapel is where you can get an outrageously huge themed wedding. The chapel has props galore and some of the themes offered include a beach party, disco, zombie, gladiator and western. Theatrical lighting and fog effects can be expected, and costumes for both couples and guests are available for rent. The Thriller wedding package comes complete with a Michael Jackson impersonator as your minister, and there is a James Bond package with Bond girl dancers and a spectacular sports car entrance.
4. The Mob Museum
For those who truly believe they’ve found their partner in crime, The Mob Museum may be your ideal venue for honest words. Also known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, it provides an astonishing, interactive journey through true stories from the birth of the Mob to today’s shocking headlines. Wedding services include catering, entertainment and production. With a variety of wedding packages, the team can tailor to most budgets.
5. Paris Las Vegas
If you’ve always dreamed of getting married in the Eiffel Tower, then this just might be the wedding venue for you. The Paris hotel and casino on the Vegas strip is themed around the city of Paris and even has its own half-size replica of the Eiffel Tower. Packages starting at US$2,300 allow couples to marry on the Eiffel Tower observation decks, and includes the ceremony, flowers, photography, champagne and personal wedding coordinator. Upgrade to US$7,200 for the deluxe package which comes with a professional musician, one-hour photoshoot, and a luxury stay at the hotel.
6. Chapel of the Flowers
There are three gorgeous chapels here, with the most striking being the Glass Gardens Wedding Chapel. It is designed for couples who want a beautiful outdoor ceremony but with climate control over the harsh weather conditions of Nevada. The rustic-chic Glass Gardens Chapel (below) is decorated with plank walls and the glass ceiling mimics the sky. The chapels have an on-site florist to create beautiful floral arrangements in your favourite colour scheme.
7. Graceland Wedding Chapel
One of the most famous wedding chapels in Las Vegas, the Graceland Chapel offers both traditional and Elvis-themed packages within its quaint little walls. Packages start at US$199 and go up to US$799 for The Famous Duelling Elvis Package which includes two Elvis impersonators performing, flowers, photography, video service, and a certificate holder.
8. A Little White Wedding Chapel
Fancy getting married in a car? A Little White Wedding Chapel offers drive-thru weddings where you can hop into a bright pink Cadillac and be married at the drive-up window. Drive-thru weddings were originally a way for disabled people to get married, but have since become a quick wedding favourite in the city. The chapel offers traditional weddings too, but the Love Drive Thru tunnel is what it’s most famous for. A Little White Wedding Chapel has seen celebrities like Joan Collins, Michael Jordan and Pamela Anderson exchange vows.
9. Bellagio Las Vegas
For the best in luxury wedding packages, head over to the Bellagio resort, hotel and casino, famed for its elegance. Its dancing water fountains are picture perfect on postcards of the city, and make for a wonderful wedding shoot backdrop. At Bellagio, your wedding wishes can be planned to the last detail in what promises to be an “extraordinary service”. The basic package starts at US$2,000 and includes flowers and a live broadcast of your wedding on the Internet – for the guests who couldn’t make it in time.
