Stopping over in Frankfurt and just have a day to spend in this splendid city? Here’s a fuss-free Frankfurt to-do list that will let you experience the very best the German city has to offer in just 24 hours.
11am: Check in to minimalist luxury
If you need a great looking cosmopolitan hotel to complement your own impeccable aesthetic, look no further than The Pure, which was awarded ‘True Stylish’ in the World Hotel Awards. Its sleek white palette is especially soothing to the senses, while the hotel is conveniently located just a stroll away from cultural attractions like Oper Frankfurt . If you’re not fluent in German, you can also catch a play at the English Theatre Frankfurt. The 2022 season will see the German premiere of Secret Life of Humans by David Byrne along with classics like Sister Act.
12pm: Wine and dine in a rustic beer hall
Solzer will lure you in with its enormous beer garden and local specialities like homemade bone marrow dumpling soup and grilled rib with sauerkraut. The tavern is famous for its local apple wine – similar to cider – so make sure you have a taste before you get back on the ales.
2pm: Splurge in style
If only the best will do, make a beeline for Goethestrasse, Frankfurt’s luxury shopping mecca with high-end boutiques from Chanel to Burberry.
4pm: Sip tea with history
Part museum, part gallery, boutique hotel The Lindenberg is a culture lover’s dream housed in a 150-year-old mansion. Nibble on light bites in beautiful shared areas, including a sun terrace and fireplace lounge.
5.30pm: Take a piece of their art
Stadel Museum is not just one of the city’s best galleries, it also boasts one of the best museum shops. Browse niche coffee table art books or pick up cool stationery. Tip: If you’re planning to museum-hop, make sure you get a Frankfurt Card, which will give you more bang for your buck.
6.30pm: Dine in a Michelin-starred restaurant
Dress up to the nines and please your palate in an elegant neo-Baroque mansion. One-Michelin-star Restaurant Villa Merton will do the trick with its surprising, earthy dishes like poached quail’s egg hidden beneath a nest of shredded, semi-dried potato and fermented leek. Head back to your hotel for a sound sleep after a feast that stimulates the senses.
