1. Skydiving, Dubai
There are countless places to experience skydiving, but one of the latest additions is already keenly sought after: the Palm Drop Zone by Skydive Dubai. Jumping out of a plane over Palm Jumeirah, one of the world’s most iconic man-made archipelagos, makes for pure Instagram gold – which is why the wait for skydives here can be up to two months long.

2. Bungee jumping, New Zealand
Queenstown in South Island is the undisputed home of extreme sports. The legendary AJ Hackett, who first commercialised bungee jumping 30 years ago, still runs the highest and most famous leap in the city – the Nevis Bungy. Get your thrills by flinging yourself off a point 134m above the Nevis River.
3. White-water rafting, Zambia
On the mighty Zambezi River, brave Stairway to Heaven – one of the largest commercially run rapids on the planet – with Water by Nature. Here, the big drop (around two storeys high) and warm water (at an average temperature of 24 deg C) make for an unforgettable experience.
4. Heli-skiing, India
At Himachal Pradesh in the Himalayas, you can ride a helicopter up some of the biggest mountains on Earth and ski down their faces, enjoying untouched, cloud-like powder.
