While Singapore residents may not be able to take a jaunt to New England to sample the region’s famed seafood anytime soon, they’ll soon be able to tuck into a worthy alternative when Luke’s Lobster – the popular New York-based restaurant group and seafood company – debuts its first outlet in the city-state.
Located on the ground floor of Isetan Scotts at Shaw House, the open-concept restaurant will open its doors from 23 September. Designed in line with the brand’s other international outlets to resemble a rustic beachside seafood shack, it has a seating capacity of 23, which will be temporarily reduced to 17 in order to observe current safe-distancing requirements.
As for the food? Diners can look forward to tucking into the brand’s flagship lobster roll, which features large, succulent chunks of chilled Maine lobster on a buttered and grilled split-top bun that’s dressed with mayo, lemon butter and a sprinkle of secret seasoning.
Other menu items include crab and prawn rolls as well as seafood bisque and chowder, all made using seafood from the group’s end-to-end seafood supply chain, which prioritises traceability and sustainability. A selection of drinks, including wines by the glass, draught beers from Little Creatures and iced teas, rounds up the offerings.
The Singapore outlet marks the group’s first foray into the Southeast Asian market, and will join its 30-odd other global locations, including 10 in Japan. It’s been brought in by Caerus Holding, which is also responsible for introducing cult favourite American brands such as New York crepe cake boutique Lady M and soft-serve ice cream brand Little Damage to Singapore. The outlet will sit alongside Leckerbaer, a Danish confectionary brand Caerus Holding opened in July.
There’s no information so far on pricing, but Caerus Holding’s CEO Vijay K Pillai has said in other interviews that it will be affordable for the quality they are offering. In light of a potential crowd, besides the traditional option of dining in, Luke’s Lobster will also launch online pre-orders for takeaway and eventually offer a delivery option.
Luke’s Lobster Singapore will open its doors on 23 September at 1.00pm and daily from 10.00am to 9.00pm (last order 8.30pm) for dine-in (walk-in only) and takeaways.
