Kheng Hua says: “Local labels offer quality and diversity”
“Comfort and practicality are important and my personal style leans towards the slightly masculine. My clothes need to handle the energetic way I move and at the same time look presentable: You never know who you’ll meet when you’re out and about!
In Singapore, my go-to outfit is a simple tank top or T-shirt with denim shorts. When I’m in Los Angeles, where I spend a lot of time these days, my everyday style choices include tights, a T-shirt and a denim jacket.
I’m a huge fan of Singaporean labels like Klarra, In Good Company and GINLEE Studio because they all make clothing with clean and simple lines using block colours. I also prefer clothes that have slightly lower waistlines and these three brands all happen to have styles that accommodate this particular preference.
Singaporeans are spoilt for choice when it comes to quality apparel that appeals to the working crowd yet won’t hurt their wallets. Many of these mid-priced ranges are cleverly designed to take people seamlessly from work to play.”

1. In Good Company
Launched back in 2013, this ready-to-wear brand is all about chic yet functional essentials that have a timeless quality. But they are also proof that the classics don’t have to be boring – a simple cotton skirt is enlivened by clever draping, while thoughtful tailoring makes a pair of shorts office-ready. They now have a branch at the Jewel Changi Airport so you can check out their collection before you fly.

2. Klarra
Most of Klarra’s pieces run for under S$100 and can be easily mixed and matched – great for women looking to build their professional wardrobes. Linen blazers add polish to any work outfit, yet remain comfortable to wear in Singapore’s heat, while dresses in a variety of silhouettes are perfect for the woman who wants to get up and go.

3. GINLEE Studio
Details make all the difference in designs by GINLEE Studio. Pullovers, for instance, can add a touch of finesse to an outfit, thanks to innovative prints. The label also has a small collection of silk dresses and tops that are perfect for evening events when paired with statement accessories.
