The new Batik Label by KrisShop was launched in November to celebrate Singapore Airlines’ strong heritage and its iconic batik that’s a nod to the signature sarong kebaya donned by its cabin crew. The specially curated store showcases KrisShop’s exclusive collaborations. As we reach the end of a year that has kept most of Singapore Airlines’ frequent flyers at home dreaming about travel, these gift ideas are inspired by the world-class airline’s elegant batik motif. We have sorted out a list of perfect presents to make everyone’s holiday season a bit more merry.
For the cocktail enthusiast: Batik Gin by Brass Lion
It was travel that inspired Jamie Koh, founder of Brass Distillery, to create a spirit that Singapore could call its own. “As I travelled the world, I also saw that almost every country has a spirit unique to them or that features local flavours.” Co-created with Singapore Airlines and the Singapore Tourism Board, Brass Lion Distillery has brewed a gin inspired by local flavours and with a bottle label adorning the iconic sarong kebaya.
For the scent enthusiast: Singapore Girl Perfume
The sense of smell is directly related to memory, so a scent that brings back images of travel is perfect. This fruity, floral Singapore Girl perfume was created by contemporary Parisian fragrance house Bon Parfumeur. To instil wanderlust, it has been made from a blend that includes Italian mandarins, tropical Asian jasmine and oakmoss from Europe’s mountainous forests.
For the budding writer: Collins 4-in-1 Journal Set
Aspiring travel writers can take time to map out a 2021 bucket list using one of the set’s four journals. Collins, noted as the diary craftsmen for the Queen of England, has made this set using Kinmari Japanese premium paper. Each journal is bound in a different colour used in the sarong kebaya.
For the artsy bag collector: LOQI Batik Tote Bag
The LOQI brand has collaborated with artists from around the world and the bags can be found at gifts shops in the Louvre in Paris, TATE in London and Guggenheim in New York. The latest collaboration is with Singapore Airlines, resulting in a lightweight tote bag decorated with flowers native to Singapore. The full coloured piece is sold out but the beige option is still available.
For the party-host: Photo Phactory Round Tray
The colourful images of Singapore’s shophouses and Peranakan tiles have inspired much of the design behind Photo Phactory’s merchandise, ranging from canvas prints and cushion pillows to scarves and bags. The latest collaboration with Singapore Airlines has resulted in a 30.5cm hand-painted tray, perfect for hosting holiday gatherings.
