As Singapore gets ready to celebrate its 53rd National Day this Thursday, Singapore Airlines is ensuring the celebrations continue all month long by supporting talented, local filmmakers on KrisWorld, their inflight entertainment system. Part of 20/20: The Temasek Short Film project, these six films playing across the network are creative and touching interpretations of what Singapore and being Singaporean means to young directors.
1. CA$H
To protest what they feel is technology taking over their jobs, four cashiers lock themselves in a supermarket in this comedy. But over time, it becomes clear that they must come to terms with this new reality.
2. Kadal
Set in the future on the island of Pulau Ubin, this drama looks at what happens when the sea rises to dangerous levels. The film is a thought-provoking meditation on climate change and how it can affect livelihoods and relationships.
3. Sylvia
Doctors perform experimental medical procedures on Sylvia to comb through her traumatic memories for clues on what caused her recent brush with death.
4. 2.0
Setting today’s obsession with social media in the future, this film follows social media influencer Rebecca as a scandal causes her social status to plummet to dangerously low levels.

5. Automatonomy
This beautifully animated story is set in a post-apocalyptic future where there is social unrest between humans and robots. In this reality, Xin rescues Diane but soon learns more about himself and his prejudices in the process.
6. Hungry Ghost
This comedy, set during the Hungry Ghost Festival, focuses on a ghost who returns to the earthly realm after becoming frustrated by the lack of food offerings being given. The film also explores food sustainability and wastage issues in Singapore.
