This police museum dates back to 1879 – when it served as a working police station protecting the residents of Manchester. These days, it has exhibitions and displays covering all aspects of policing from years gone by, including uniforms, vehicles, crime, and the history of Manchester’s police force. Run by a team of friendly volunteers, many of whom are ex-police, it’s open to the public on Tuesdays. You can explore cells and even a relocated Victorian magistrate’s court, complete with the original stained-glass windows.
