Few addresses in Istanbul ooze history in quite the same way as Pera Palace does. Belgian entrepreneur Georges Nagelmackers opened the hotel in 1892 to house travellers arriving on his Orient Express trains, and a refurbishment that was completed in 2010 has restored the Palace to its former glory. Chandeliers, Turkish rugs and period furnishings await – all the better when emulating former guests such as Ernest Hemingway and Agatha Christie at this historic property.
