Opened in 1953, Mandarin Oriental’s Bamboo Bar is one of the oldest watering holes in Bangkok, but it’s no dinosaur. It has been the city’s premier jazz institution since the beginning, drawing in A-listers such as Louis Armstrong, Audrey Hepburn and Mick Jagger. Sensitive renovations in 2015 brought Bamboo Bar into the 21st century, but also preserved elements that reflect its original character, such as bamboo fittings, rattan chairs and tiger print upholstery. Décor aside, the award-winning cocktails remain a draw in their own right.
