Often called the Akihabara of Osaka, this neighbourhood is a dizzying collection of shops specialising in electronics, anime, manga and pretty much anything else an otaku (a person obsessed with technology or certain aspects of culture) might want. Aside from being a hobbyist’s paradise, it’s also a good place to experience maid cafés, game centres, cosplay (costume play) karaoke and other highlights of Japan’s quirky countercultures.
