Located in Ubud, the cultural heart of the island, Goa Gajah (or Elephant Cave) is said to date all the way back to the 11th century. The temple is adorned with both Hindu and Buddhist imagery, with nearby bathing pools and water spouts only excavated in the 1950s. The menacing-looking creatures carved into the stone entrance is a particular sight to behold.
