Parc des Buttes Chaumont is the antithesis of the impeccably maintained gardens of the Jardin des Tuileries. With its rolling hills, caves and waterfalls, and crowds of tai chi enthusiasts, dog walkers and picnickers, it has a more relaxed vibe than other well-ordered Parisian parks. In fact, it has even been known to host impromptu daytime dance parties. The Temple de la Sibylle, a pavilion perched 50 metres above the park’s man-made lake and inspired by the Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, is worth the climb for its view of the Sacré-Cœur.
