This secluded fine-dining gem only opened in 2022, yet has already cultivated a reputation for excellence in a city with few comparable rivals. Sequestered upriver in an alluring garden, Roleque’s two-storey wooden house holds an ultra-intimate restaurant run by chef Phy (Kongleaphy Keam); and, upstairs, a gallery/social space emblazoned with the vivid paintings of Singaporean artist Isabelle Ri. This perfect match of culinary and aesthetic exoticism results in themed Khmer-European seven-course meals overflowing with creativity, where Phy (while cooking) tells his clientele engaging stories about his recipes’ origins, ingredients and flavours.
