Savour Chinese delicacies at a one-Michelin-star restaurant and sip speciality coffee at Paragon, a foodie hotspot in the heart of Singapore’s Orchard Road.
Baker’s Brew (Cafe.Studio)
Take your pick of this cafe’s handcrafted desserts, which range from ondeh ondeh (rice cakes with palm sugar syrup; above) to Japanese cotton cheddar cakes. Speciality coffee from artisanal cafe Papa Palheta is brewed here.
Crystal Jade Golden Palace
With its contemporary take on traditional Chinese cuisine, it is no surprise that this restaurant was conferred a Michelin star in 2016 and 2017. Chinese regional specialities are created using modern techniques. Try its chilled yellow cream crab in Teochew style (above), which comes recommended by Michelin guide inspectors.
Singapore’s first outpost of the popular Bangkok cafe chain serves Thai fare with a twist. Don’t miss its minced meat with sweet basil and hot chillies, served on a bed of rice with an egg sunny side up (above).
Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck Restaurant
The must-order dish at this Chinese fine-dining eatery is Peking duck (above). Chefs here are dedicated to preserving the recipe that harks back to imperial China, where each fowl is roasted to crisp perfection in a lychee wood-fired oven. Sliced tableside, it is served with thin crepes daubed with plum sauce. Also perfect for sharing is the steamed fresh eel in black bean sauce.
Start the day with a cuppa at restaurant group 63’s new eatery, which boasts a coffee programme designed in collaboration with coffee roaster Allpress Espresso. Dishes (above) here are globally inspired, featuring seasonal ingredients and cooked in a Josper charcoal oven. Pair these with wines from France, Italy, Spain, Argentina and New Zealand.
