Back in the days when Singapore Airlines still ran Young Explorer Club for children and adolescents, it was possible for members to visit the flight deck, subject to the captain’s permission. On this occasion back in 1997, I was flying from Singapore to Hong Kong, on board a Megatop Boeing 747-400, registration 9V-SPC. It was my first and only visit to the flight deck and the 180-degree panoramic view of the sky from there was entirely different from that of the usual passenger window. Becoming a pilot was my childhood dream and this visit to the flight deck strengthened my desire to become one. Five years after taking this photo, I obtained my private pilot license in 2002.
