My hometown, Cebu City, in the Philippines, has a special sister-city relationship with two European cities, Haarlemmermeer in the Netherlands and Kortrijk in Belgium. In 2012, 14 other youths from Cebu and I were selected to participate in a three-week cultural visit to the Netherlands and Belgium. We did not have the luxury to choose our airline of choice, but we were ecstatic to learn that we were all booked on Singapore Airlines’ SQ 324 to Amsterdam. On board the plane, we tried Singapore Sling and took photos with the beautiful cabin crew in the Business Class cabin. For most of us, it was our first overseas trip. Years after our first Singapore Airlines flight, we continue to relish those moments, and the standards to which we assess inflight service and experience have been set to what we had back then on SQ 324.
