Following the announcement of Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) and the ever-growing list of eligible countries, many travellers are preparing to (re)visit Singapore. In order to make entering and traveling around the Little Red Dot as easy and enjoyable as possible, we’ve put together a list of websites and apps that will help along the way.
1. Safe Travel Concierge
Developed by a team from Changi Airport, the Safe Travel Concierge aims to make travelling into Singapore as seamless as possible. It serves as a one-stop portal that provides clear guidance on what is needed for each passenger, depending on where you are flying from and the passport or visa that you hold. Signing up for an account only takes a few minutes, after which you can enter all planned trips – you can even add in travel companions to help them manage their requirements. The handy tool then provides a complete checklist of what’s needed. You can use this to book and pay for your arrival Covid-19 test, as it provides a QR code that can be presented at the airport on arrival. Additional information is available to keep you up to date on the Covid-19 situation in Singapore.
2. TraceTogether
The TraceTogether app is required in Singapore in order to enter restaurants, shopping malls and other public spaces. All visitors (as well as residents) above the age of six must have this, so it’s recommended that you download it before arrival. Travellers must register their profile with all of the same details as shown on their passport. Those unable to use mobile devices can rent a TraceTogether Token from the airport . This contact tracing app is used in Singapore to help combat the spread of Covid-19.
3. Car booking services
In addition to ComfortDelGro for taxis, there are several options when it comes to ride hailing apps. As prices tend to vary throughout the day on all of them, it can be useful to download a few to compare prices. Three of the most popular are Grab, Tada and GoJek.
4. Restaurant reservation platforms
With limited dine-in capacity being enforced, getting a table at some of the top restaurants in town can be a challenge. Avoid being disappointed by booking ahead. Sites and apps to guarantee you get a spot at the top restaurants include Chope, Quandoo, eatigo and more. They all offer deals and giveaways, so taking a look at what’s being offered has its benefits.
5. SingaporeAir mobile app
The airline’s app helps to provide a smoother journey. In addition to planning, booking and managing your trip, the app offers a range of features to enhance your travel experience. Passengers can check-in online and generate a mobile boarding pass, as well as receive updates on Covid-19 travel restrictions. An e-Library provides access to over 200 newspapers and magazines from 48 hours before you flight. Passengers can also create a playlist to enjoy while onboard. The inflight menu can be accessed seven days before your flight departs and up until your flight arrives at its destination.
