Look, over there: isn’t that Hugh Jackman sunbathing by the pool? And isn’t that Andy Murray knocking aces out on the tennis court? Time it right and you never know who you’ll bump into at the world’s best celebrity-owned hotels. Here are our favourite 10.
1. The Greenwich Hotel, New York, USA
Owner: Robert de Niro
The Goodfellas and Taxi Driver star is a serious devotee of Manhattan’s downtown TriBeca district. He’s the driving force behind the TriBeca Film Festival every April, but also this 88-room luxe hotel, a seamless blend of Moorish, Oriental and New York loft apartment styles.
2. The Bedford Post Inn, New York, USA
Owner: Richard Gere
Set in the heart of Westchester Country in New York state, the Pretty Woman star’s hotel is a popular wedding venue and dates back to the 1860s. He lives in the neighbourhood, so don’t be surprised to see him popping in.

3. Mission Ranch Hotel, California, USA
Owner: Clint Eastwood
One of the first cattle dairies in the United States, this 31-room farmhouse ranch dates back to the 19th-century and was restored by the Dirty Harry star 30 years ago. Sitting on 9 hectares, it’s both a bucolic Californian escape and a working ranch. Expect to see as many sheep on site as you will celebrities.
4. Sundance Mountain Resort, Utah, USA
Owner: Robert Redford
Bought back in 1969, this Utah hotel is still a platform for Redford’s annual Sundance Film Festival. That makes it a hub for filmmakers, producers, and directors who jet in to ski, snowboard, hike, and zen out in the art studio.
5. Gwinganna Health Retreat, Gold Coast, Australia
Owner: Hugh Jackman
Famous for his six-pack, it’s no surprise the X-Men actor’s hotel is an extreme wellness retreat and spa without compromise. Set on a mountaintop near Brisbane, it bans all caffeinated drinks, alcohol and a few other addictive substances to help you concentrate on looking and feeling good.
