SIA and Virgin Australia have announced the first milestones of their alliance. To increase services to northern Australia, Singapore Airlines’ regional airline, SilkAir, will start a four-times-weekly service* between Singapore and Darwin (right) from March 26, 2012. Virgin Australia will complement this with a daily service* between Sydney and Darwin from April 2. The two airlines have also kicked off their reciprocal frequent flyer recognition since December 20 last year, allowing KrisFlyer and Velocity members to earn and redeem frequent flyer points on each other’s networks (refer to the respective airlines’ websites for details). Codesharing on both airlines’ services is expected to commence early this year.
