When it comes to burger culture, London is no longer in New York’s shadow – 2012 sees the rise of more sophisticated buns on the scene. Daniel Young of youngandfoodish.com hosts BurgerMondays, a series of pop-ups featuring top chefs attempting to push the burger envelope. On his website, Young also curates a list of Top 10 selections in London. His top three are:

1. The Goodman steakhouse
burger, with molten cheddar
and streaky bacon at 26 Maddox St, Mayfair.
  2. The Bar Boulud Piggie burger (above), topped with red cabbage slaw and pulled
pork at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, 66 Knightsbridge.
  3. The Cod burger at The
Admiral Codrington
, a 227g beef patty with lettuce and
Dijon mayo at 17
Mossop St, Chelsea.
