SANDS SKYPARK
INFINITY POOL AT
MARINA BAY SANDS
Singer Katy Perry held a
press conference here in
2010, answering questions
only from reporters who
got into the 1.4million-litre
pool. The outdoor infinity
pool, said to be the largest
of its sort at its height, is
made up of three Olympic-
length pools connected by
moveable terraces.

The Biggest,
The Most...
T
he Singapore Sports Hub recently
opened its doors revealing not just
impressive sports and entertainment
facilities, but a stadium that is said to have
the largest dome (diameter 312m) in the
world. To top that, another two records
were broken at the venue’s first music
event on June 28. Amassive ensemble of
3,345musicians made it into the Guinness
World Records for being the largest Chinese
orchestra performing in a single location,
while 4,557 percussionists set the record for
the largest Chinese drum ensemble.
This isn’t the first time that world records
have been set or broken on the island. Here
are some other record holders – present
and recently past.

IFLY SINGAPORE
iFly still holds a few
records such as the
longest indoor free fall (4
hours, 22minutes and 20
seconds), and the most
backward somersaults
(68) under one minute –
all in a wind tunnel. The
indoor skydiving wind
tunnel’s record for size
was overtaken by Inflight
Dubai in United Arab
Emirates in August 2013.

SINGAPORE FLYER
Many couples have
said “I do” atop this
observation wheel. Its
28 capsules can carry up
to 28 passengers each,
and can be booked for
a special dinner with a
view. For six years, it
held the record for being
the largest of its kind,
before ceding the title to
Las Vegas’ High Roller in
March 2014.

Singapore might barely be a dot on the world map,
but beyond geography, it is a city f superlatives
in the record books.
