In 2007, American investor Jim Rogers, who is now a Singapore PR, moved to Singapore with his wife Paige and two daughters – Hilton Augusta, 8, and Beeland Anderson, 3. He shares some of what he loves about the Little Red Dot.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE RESTAURANTS?

Newcomer Gaia Ristorante & Bar at Goodwood Park Hotel has good service and nice wines. Must-tries are the mozzarella appetisers as well as the veal cheek and Milanese risotto. My all-time favourite restaurant is Au Jardin at the Singapore Botanical Gardens. I love the egg confit with bacon and truffles.

WHAT LOCAL FLAVOURS DO YOU FANCY?

I like the spicy grilled stingray from Adam Seafood BBQ at Adam Road Food Centre and bak kwa (barbecued meat slices) from Lim Chee Guan at People’s Park Complex.

WHERE DO YOU SHOP FOR CLOTHES?

My wife brings me to Justmen’s at Tanglin Shopping Centre. Also, the pink long-sleeved sport shirts from Singapore brand Raoul are super – there’s an R on the sleeves so people think I had them made with the initial for Rogers!

WHAT’S ON YOUR ENTERTAINMENT CALENDAR FOR THE YEAR-END?

We’ve already booked our opening night (November 17) tickets for The Bridge Project – Richard III by The Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT). We’re avid fans of the SRT, which consistently puts up top-notch performances. We’re also season ticket holders of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) so we are likely to catch the gala performance of Vladimir Ashkenazy’s interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony on November 4. The SSO Babies’ Proms is on December 15 and 16, and we will be taking Baby Bee (younger daughter Beeland).
